Purpose of this training

The purpose of this training is to equip supervisors, managers, senior executives or senior staff in organisations with the skills to strengthen existing workplace practices and better support their staff to identify and respond to abuse, neglect and exploitation of an older person or adult with disability in their family, home and community.

Who is this training for?

Module two is for supervisors and senior staff within organisations who are involved in the development, review and guidance of staff policies and procedures, and who have staff who work or engage with older people and adults with disability in their family, home or community. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Supervisors
  • Managers
  • Senior Executives
  • Managers involved in policy and procedure development
  • Managers involved in staff training and development
  • members of an organisation who support staff working with older people and adults with disability
  • anyone in an organisation interested in improving workplace practices and procedures in responding to abuse, neglect and exploitation.

How to use the training

This training can be accessed on this website, and can be used across multiple devices included desktop computers, iPads or iPhones or any other tablet. Module two has three key sections that you will be able to navigate through at your own pace. At the end of each section, there is a quiz and you will return to the main menu.

Please ensure you follow the instructions and prompts on each slide to progress through the training. This course takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this training, you will be able to:

  • strengthen workplaces practices to help guide staff on how to respond to risks or disclosures of abuse, neglect and exploitation of older people and adults with disability in family, home and community settings
  • develop strategies around how to better support staff and build confidence to detect and raise concerns of abuse earlier
  • better understand the importance of workplace culture and how this can influence staff to act on matters of concern earlier
  • understand the importance of reflective practice and policy review in the context of abuse in family, home and community settings.

Fees

This is a free training module provided by the NSW Ageing and Disability Commission.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this training module. We do encourage organisations to complete module one to provide a better framework for staff responding to abuse, neglect and exploitation.

All the resources provided in this module are available to download from this website.

Certificate of completion

In order to ensure this training is accessible to everyone, this module sits outside of a learning management system (LMS). However, we recognise the importance of acknowledging the time and effort taken to complete. This certificate of completion (PDF, 59.0 KB) is available at the end of the module, and can be downloaded and signed at the discretion of the organisation to demonstrate completion of this course by managers or supervisors.
