Last published on 09 Sep 2019 in News

Disability Advocacy Review Update

Today the NSW Ageing and Disability Commissioner, Robert Fitzgerald AM, has confirmed WestWood Spice will assist the Commission in the Review of Disability Advocacy in NSW.

Led by Roger West, WestWood Spice will work with the Commission to develop a key issues paper, analyse submissions and conduct face-to-face and telephone consultations across metro and regional NSW, as part of the Review process.

WestWood Spice is a well-established consultation firm with over 18 years experience. They have delivered successful projects for Commonwealth, State and local government agencies and NGO's, across disability services, ageing and family support. This makes WestWood Spice the preferred partner for the consultation process, which aims to better understand the purpose, functions and future needs of disability advocacy in NSW.

Additionally, the Department of Communities and Justice have engaged PWC to undertake a detailed analysis outlining the size and nature of the disability population across NSW. This will inform the Review, and be available with the Commissioner's final report by 31 December 2019.

KEY TIMINGS ABOUT THE CONSULTATION

  • A key issues paper will be available for public comment week commencing the 9th September 2019 via our website, for six weeks. Submissions can be made online or by phone (02 4904 7500).
  • Face-to-face and telephone consultations will occur across metro and regional NSW throughout October 2019.
  • The Commissioner's final report will be delivered to Parliament by the 31st December 2019.
